Temporary Club Closure
As you will no doubt have heard by now, Essex County Council recently approached the government to be placed at a higher level of risk from CoVID, dubbed ‘Tier 2’. This was agreed and will take place from midnight this Friday onwards. Southend Council is autonomous from Essex County Council and therefore currently is not placed in Tier 2.
Clearly this has created a huge problem for the Club, with a huge number of our members living outside Southend Borough (Benfleet/Rayleigh/Rochford/Hockley etc), who now cannot play bowls with ANYONE else not in their family bubble. That, coupled with the general vulnerability to the virus of our members, has led the Management Committee to agree a temporary closure of the Club recommended by the CoVID sub-Committee.
This will run from Saturday 17th October to Sunday 8th November originally and will be reviewed regularly and extensively.
All League games and roll-ups during this original 2 week period will be removed from the diary and not re-booked.
We know a number of our members are still not on e-mail, if you know of anyone in this position who you could pass this message on to we would be very grateful.
If anyone has any immediate concerns, the Club e-mail and phone will continue to be monitored throughout this period.
We understand this will come as a disappointment to everyone, but the decision has been made in everyone’s best interests and was somewhat made for us by the government.
Any further updates will be sent out by e-mail and placed on the Club website.

Update - 1/10/20
What can be booked?
Members are only allowed to book up to 1 full calendar month in advance, example – today, 1st October, members can only book up to the 1st November, no further. In the past 2 days I have deleted upwards of 20 bookings from the system made for later dates in November. I understand it is frustrating for all involved, but we are trying to be as fair as possible in a very unusual situation – we appreciate your forbearance with this.
Rinks must be booked online at https://essex-micro.bowlr.co.uk/ - the main Club website cannot facilitate bookings.
You will require your ID and Password – if you do not know them, please just get in touch with myself whenever convenient.
Once on the site, log in, click ‘Book a Match’, then ‘Make a New Booking’ – from there you will be redirected to the diary to choose when you would like to play. You will be able to book on any session which shows as ‘Open Play’. Please add all the names, if known, to the booking.
If you would like to be added to an existing booking of fewer than 4 players you can be, however the only way to do this is get in touch with me and I shall add you on.
