The 2024 Outdoor season Opening Drive on 27th April had 70 players turning out to play on 9 rinks. The weather held until we’d finished playing though it was very cold. Full report on the Club website.
The Club AGM on 7th May was well supported by the ladies so I’m sure that the word is already spreading amongst you that black is the new grey (and white). There will still be a need to wear white for some games; 20/20 league being the most obvious example as it’s written into the 20/20 rules. I can only advise that you look carefully at the dress code requirements on the teamsheets.
• Monday ladies afternoons from 1.30pm - play together, have some coaching, get to know each other in a relaxed atmosphere. We aim to get onto the green ready to play by 2.00pm so you must check in (text or Whatsapp accepted) by 1.30pm latest so that teams can be organised.
• Inter Club Leagues ; Affinity and 20/20 Leagues - Get your names on the availability sheets please. All of these games require you to wear the Club shirt with either black (Affinity) or white (20/20 league). May teams have been selected and teamsheets are up. July availability sheet up soon.
• County Top Club ; First round was on Saturday 11th May v. Hockley.A superb 4 rink win means we progress to face Fairwood away on Saturday 18th.
• Club Competitions ; Lizzie is taking entries until 19th May and this deadline is imminent.Get your entries in. The Fixed Jack heats on August 12th from 10.00-4.00 can be entered on the day or on the forms - we’ll get you into a comp one way or another! 😁
• ECWBA Ben. Triples Day ; This will be held at South Benfleet and Canvey B.C. on Thursday 11th July. Entries £6 per team.Details on the noticeboard. We have 3 entries already but you still have time to enter a team.
• Club friendlies - There are some new ones (at home) this season. Please put your names down and take part. See the Club Friendlies board for details. If you don’t wish to play in the ladies Affinity and 20/20 leagues or aren’t able to for any reason, do try the friendlies. It has been historically difficult to raise teams for friendlies and there is a real danger that they will be lost if the trend continues. If you enjoy mixed games, these are for you - support as many as you can.
• Affinity and 20/20 League results / tables will be posted as they come out, or individually if time allows. We appreciate that not everyone comes into the club regularly. If you would like to be included for selection you can text, Whatsapp, email or phone providing you give plenty of notice.
Team selections (Affinity and 20/20 league) will be made up to 2 weeks ahead of matches where at all possible. You must be proactive and make yourselves available - we want as many ladies to play in competitive games as possible but we do not have time to phone you to ask you to play.
Text or Whatsapp to advise availability for selection or Monday afternoons to Chris Johnson.
