Well, June has been fun; mostly wet, often windy and frequently cold enough to wear 4 layers. As the month comes to a close we have finally seen a hint of summer and the warmth we all want for our bowling days. We’ll soon be saying it’s too hot!
• Monday ladies afternoons from 1.30pm - We are on the green ready to play by 2.00pm .You must check in (text or Whatsapp accepted) by 1.30pm latest so that teams can be organised. Thank you to everyone who plays on a Monday and also many thanks to the ladies who make or bring cakes and to the bar team for opening.
• Dennyside Charity Day Monday 29th July ; It was decided that all disc games and the ladies afternoon are cancelled so that the focus can be on this event.I’m sorry to lose another Monday afternoon but it is for a good cause .
• Inter Club Leagues ; Affinity and 20/20 Leagues - Get your names on the availability sheets please. All of these games require you to wear the Club shirt with either black (Affinity) or white (20/20 league). July teams are now being selected and the first team sheets are up on the board. August (!!) availability sheet is up and needs plenty of names please.
• County : Albert Crabb Double Rink ; Our first match was on the 20th June against White Hall. Happy to report that we won home and away. Home : 24-20, Away : 23-9. Well done to all the ladies who played. Our next opponents are Rayleigh on Thursday 18th July at 6.00pm. Supporters always welcome.
• Club Competitions ; Do get your competition games organised within the deadlines. It makes life easier; not just for Lizzie but also for everyone waiting to play their next round.
• ECWBA Ben. Triples Day 11th July ; This will is at South Benfleet and Canvey B.C. We have 4 teams entered. Don’t forget to take your lunch ladies!
• Club friendlies - Please put your names down and take part. It is often difficult to raise teams for friendlies and they will be lost without your support. If you enjoy mixed games, these are for you.
• Affinity and 20/20 League Results are mixed; some good wins, some spectacular meltdowns ,but some elements are consistent; teams are all playing to the best of their abilities and being sociable hosts or guests after their games. Latest results: 20/20 v. Runwell 18th June ; 19-13 win and 14-24 loss. Affinity v. White Hall 14th June ; 9-22 loss and 11-22 loss Affinity v. B’mouth Park 6th June; 18-14 win (1 rink conceded by BP). 20/20 v. Sth Benfleet 29th May ; 29-11 win and 24-8 win.
We appreciate that not everyone comes into the club regularly. If you would like to be included for selection you can text, Whatsapp, email or phone providing you give plenty of notice.
Team selections (Affinity and 20/20 league) will be made up to 2 weeks ahead of matches where at all possible. You must be proactive and make yourselves available - we want as many ladies to play in competitive games as possible but we do not have time to phone you to ask you to play.
