Bill Parrack (July 2024)

We are sad to announce the recent death of Bill Parrack.

Bill had been a full member of the Club for over two decades and was a regular participant in leagues and disc games.

In more recent years he maintained his membership but was unable to play much due to his deteriorating health.

When we receive details of Bill’s funeral we will update this notice.

Ken Brown (May 2024)

We are sad to report the death of long-time Full Member of the Club Ken Brown.

Ken had been a member here for over 25 years and saw success in that time too, winning the Club Pairs twice and the Veterans Singles three times amongst other accomplishments.

Ken did not limit himself to the Club though, working with the Southend & District BA over the years and as such was extremely well liked and regarding around local clubs.

Ken's funeral will take place on Monday 3rd June, 11am, at the large chapel of Southend Crematorium. His wake will follow straight after at the Club - all members are welcome.

Christine Harrison (April 2024)

We have received the sad news of Christine (Chris) Harrison's recent passing.

Chris was a member here for over a decade and was an incredibly popular character. All of our thoughts at this time are with her husband Bill, also a member here, and their wider family.

Chris' funeral will take place on Monday 3rd June, 2pm, at the large chapel of Southend Crematorium. Her wake will follow straight after at the Club - all members are welcome.

David Horsley (March 2024)

We have received the sad news that David Horsley has recently passed away.

David was a full member of the Club since 2010 and in more recent years often visited for lunch and a chat with other members.

Brian Ravensdale (Dec 2023)

Full member Brian sadly passed away late December, he had been an extremely active member of the Club since 2013, playing in many leagues, comps and friendlies.

David Carveley

(Sept 2023)

We have received the sad news that one of our long-time ex-members David Carveley passed away at the end of September.

David was a full member here for many years and will be fondly remembered for the tireless work he put into the Cadets, as an assistant-master for well over a decade. This was at a time when we had over 20 full Cadets and lots of competitions county-wide, so was almost a full-time job for David.

Other members will recall the huge amount of marking that David did, multiple games every day during the busiest parts of the season – he always got presented a bottle at the Club AGM for his efforts.

All of the above culminated in David being awarded the County’s top recognition for Club members; the Bill Wallis award in 2007, which still hangs proudly in the Club.

David’s funeral was held on Thur 26th October.

Ray Raven

(March 2023)

We are saddened to hear of the recent death of Ray Raven, a full member of the Club since early 2013.

Ray was a regular bowler in leagues, disc games and roll ups throughout the year.
