Outdoor Season Thoughts/Reflection
As we reach exactly 1 month remaining of our Outdoor season we can reflect on positive season under difficult circumstances....
We are currently at 325 paid up Outdoor members, surprisingly far far more than usual, as we have accommodated members from many other local Clubs whose greens were not opened by the Council. Whilst this has made space on the greens extremely sought after at times, we have managed well with all play being booked in advance.
We are running 1 internal league, 9 Club competitions and also an Essex-wide Inter-Club Double Triples, as well as having Group competitions kindly arranged also - meaning there has been plenty to play in.
Many thanks to all of our members for continuing their memberships, plenty of whom without any intention of bowling, as well as donating a huge amount also.
Finally, we would like to share with everyone a letter from Shoebury Park BC - one of the Clubs which has taken to using us as their temporary home. This is not for self-appreciation, but to clearly illustrate that we as bowlers, even from different Clubs, are all in this together and are looking towards the long-term future of both our Clubs and the sport in general...
"On behalf of the members of Shoebury Park Bowling Club we would like to thank all at Essex County for making us so welcome during this period of bowling at the time of Coronavirus. Without your generous offer for us to bowl on your excellent greens our members would have been unable to bowl until August at Shoebury. In addition to “roll up” bowling you have allowed us to enter your Club Competitions which some of us have taken advantage of and enjoyed immensely. This has been much appreciated. Ed Morris, in particular, has been most helpful when we have been booking rinks during this period and Essex County regular members have accepted us as members rather than temporary guests. All in all, Essex County should be proud of themselves for helping to save a Bowling season for many members of Council run Bowling Greens.
Thank you so much."
