Indoor Season Update
Please find full update on the forthcoming Indoor season...
Following multiple meetings of the joint sub-Committee and ratification from the Indoor and Management Committees we are pleased to announce the following for the forthcoming Indoor season:
Finance – From Sue Kemp (Club Treasurer) – “Due to these unprecedented circumstances I would like to inform all our members that the membership fee for the forthcoming season has been reduced to £50. I am pleased to say there is no increase in rink fees and they will remain at £3 per session.”
Opening – The Indoor arena will open for play on Monday 21st September. The first 2 weeks will be roll-ups only. At this stage, the plan is for Leagues to commence from 5th October, but fixtures/rota's are yet to be finalised – sponsors will be hearing from the League Secretary in the very near future.
Bowling/Arena – The largest change to playing conditions is that all play will be limited to pairs at all times (ie. Maximum of 4 people on a rink).
Session times will remain as they are, except there will be a 15 minute gap between sessions – this will enable those finishing to leave the Club without overcrowding from the next session to go on. Therefore session times will be 8am-9:45am, 10am-11:45am etc.
The session desk where rink fees can be paid will be located in the restaurant area. League team members are still expected to man the session desk during league sessions as normal; face coverings and protective gloves will be available.
In another big change to proceedings, all Roll-Up rinks must be booked in advance. For everyone’s safety nobody will be allowed access to play without having first booked online. Bookings will be taken via the Members’ Area of the Club website – or on the touchscreen TV in the Club corridor for those without computer/smartphone access. The person booking will be able to book 4 names at once. If they only book themselves and further space is available but not bookable, then members will need to ring the Office. Bookings will only be accepted if made less than 1 month in advance. Those members booked but not turning up will be charged the rink fee. All of these measures are in place for safety, as well as due to the popularity of the designated roll-up sessions.
We are due in early September to upgrade our existing air conditioning system. The new system will produce an entire arena’s worth of new fresh air each 15 minutes and will provide excellent safeguarding against airborne pathogens such as Covid-19.
The area behind the rinks (where the session desk is usually found) will be converted into an overflow changing room. We hope members will come to the Club ready to play and only require changing of their shoes.
Scoreboards will not be in use.
iPads for League results input will not be in use.
Face coverings during play are optional.
Further information regarding 'Temporary Rules of Play' will be sent to members closer to the season start.
Club Layout – We will be operating a new entrance and exit – incorporated into a one-way system throughout the Club. The patio door directly opposite the Bar will be used as the new entrance. The usual entrance being for exit only. The one-way system has been designed and put in place to make social distancing much easier for members present at the Club.
There will be a Track & Trace system in place by the entrance for everyone to sign upon arrival.
We will enforce maximum occupancy of both toilets and both changing rooms.
Sanitation/anti-bac gel will be available throughout Club and Indoor Arena.
Bar/Kitchen – Opening hours will be 10am-2pm and 5pm-10:30pm Mon-Fri, 10am-2pm and 5pm-8:00pm Weekends – note the earlier opening times.
Alcohol will only be served after 10:30am as per our licence.
A strict queuing, ordering and paying system will be in place.
The kitchen will not be opening for the foreseeable future, at least until a time where Covid is less prevalent.
Additional – For the first time there will be no printed handbook as standard this year. All information will be placed on the Club website. Anyone requiring information printed can receive this from the Club Office.
Face coverings are optional throughout the Club.
Social distancing must be strictly adhered to throughout the Club.
A Video Walkthrough will be filmed at a trial session in mid-September. This will be uploaded to the Club website via YouTube so that members can see the new Club layout prior to attending.
Everything above is liable to change as the season progresses but not without written notice to all members first.
