EGHAM Trophy
The EGHAM Trophy is a National Mixed competition consisting of 4 teams of 4 players (two ladies and 2 men) with 2 teams playing at home and 2 away.
ECBC played their third round match in this competition on Sunday 11th November against local rivals Tilbury having beaten Mid Suffolk and Jacks Centre in the previous 2 rounds. This was going to be a hard game, and it was right to the end!
The away rinks skipped, by Neil Jackson and Steve Mahoney eventually lost by only 2 shots between them but, with the home rinks skipped by David Dar and Dave McCathie, having a couple of ends to play, there were only 1 or 2 shots in it overall!
When all rinks had finished the result was a tie and the extra end had to be played to decide the result – this was played at ECBC.
Dave McCathie decided not to play his last bowl and left it to the umpire to decide who had shot in a three bowl measure – it went to ECBC, so we progressed into the next round on Sunday 25th November against Ipswich IBC.
