Club Update – COVID-19
The Management Committee met on the evening of Thursday 19th March to discuss the immediate future of the Club.
It should be mentioned that the discussions that took place were in depth, taking into account current Government guidelines and legislation.
New Temporary Opening Hours
Effective from Monday 23rd March the Club’s Opening Hours will be as follows:
Monday thru Friday – 10am to 4pm
Saturday/Sunday – CLOSED
Please note that the Bar and Kitchen will both be closed indefinitely for the foreseeable future, the Club is only open for Roll-Ups – the Club Office Manager Edward Morris will oversee these sessions to ensure a suitably small number is allowed on the green at any one time.
It was noted that the Club is a lifeline to some of our members and their mental health is especially important at this time. Of course we would reiterate the current advice from the Government and suggest anyone with underlying health issues or any kind of illness stay away, both for their own sake and for the sake of others.
If the Government are to change their guidelines we will follow them as necessary, so a full closure in the near future is very much still a possibility.
The Management Committee will continue to operate and will be meeting on a more regular basis than before during this unprecedented period. It is clear at this stage that the Full Club AGM will have to be postponed and all current members of the Committee shall continue to serve for the time being.
No formal decision about the Outdoor season has been made as yet, the national situation is changing daily and we will keep a close eye on things, however it is almost certain that the Outdoor season will be heavily affected in some way. Renewal packs will not be sent out as usual at the end of March and the cost of Indoor Summer and Outdoor membership has not yet been agreed either.
We are very fortunate to be in a strong financial position to cope with this disruption. What our finances will look like at the end of the pandemic we naturally do not know as yet, but please be assured that the Club will survive this – we only hope that the same can be said for every other Club in the area and around the country.
We will send out e-mails periodically but please keep a close eye on our Club website for latest updates - https://www.essexcountybowlsclub.com/news
If you have any questions please e-mail or phone the Club, Edward will be in the Office during opening hours as much as possible.
