Indoor Season Update – Face Coverings
On Friday 21st August the Government made the wearing of Face Coverings in Indoor Sports Stadiums mandatory. As a result, any person entering an Indoor Bowls Club will need to wear a face covering.
Once in the Bowls Club the exceptions to wearing a face mask are:-
- When on the rink bowling with 2 metre social distancing in place, due to partaking in exercise.
- Due to a physical or mental illness or impairment, or disability
- When eating or drinking in designated seating area's
Essex County Bowling Club are making the wearing of Face Coverings mandatory around the club from 21st September, that means from when you step through the door, walking around the club, in the changing rooms/area's, up to when you leave the premises.
You DO NOT need to wear a Face Covering on the rink (unless you want to) or in the bar when sitting down with a drink.
We understand this will present some members with a problem and we understand this, but for the benefit of the majority of members, this will be the rule.
Failure to observe this rule could result in you being asked to leave the premises.
Face Coverings will be available at the club at a cost of 50p each, for those members who forget to bring their own, please refer to the office, bar, or stewards.
Indoor Membership Renewals
E-mails and letters (for those without e-mail) have been sent out to all members. Please make every effort if you can to get these back in as soon as possible, it would help the administration of everything greatly.
Locker fees have not been charged this year, as we hope members will be able to come ready to play and not require their lockers. Whether using your locker or not, please hold on to your keys for future seasons.
Indoor Roll-Up Bookings
We are getting plenty of enquiries about booking rinks – the Club website is requiring an update in order to accommodate the new way of booking rinks. These changes are not yet ‘live’ – we will update you all in due course as soon as bookings are ready to be taken via the website.
In the meantime, you can make bookings on our ‘microsite’ https://essex-micro.bowlr.co.uk – this is also the site you might recognise from our touchscreen TV in the Club corridor. Just click on ‘Book Match’, then ‘Make a New Booking’ from the Roll-Up matches side menu. We do require all names of those playing, so if you are rolling up with others please add their names at the time of booking. If anyone needs some assistance in booking in the first instances just speak to Ed in the Club Office and he can explain everything to you.
In order to book you will require your membership ID and password – if you are not aware of these details please just ask Ed and he can supply them to you.
We are only accepting bookings up to 1 month in advance at any time, any roll ups booked further in advance will be removed from the diary.
Online SGM Result
Thanks to all Full Members who cast their vote on the installation of an upgraded air conditioning system. The result of the vote was as follows:
For – 198 Against – 0
The works have commenced this week.
One major factor we forgot to mention with the original e-mail was that we did in fact get 2 quotes, with the second quote being an additional £11,000 for exactly the same work.
New Club Shirt
We have finalised the design of our new shirt – it can be seen on our Facebook page here - https://www.facebook.com/essexcountybowlsclub/photos/a.1147030722005756/4320348661340597/
Orders are being taken now, but the shirts themselves won’t be ordered for a few months yet. Samples of each size are on their way to us now. Shirts will be priced at £10 for the first shirt (thanks to generous sponsorship from Stibbards & Sons), £25 for any additional shirt required.
The shirts will eventually replace the yellow panelled shirt and be used for any Club-representative game from the 2021 Outdoor season onwards.
