Club News – November
Coronavirus/Lockdown Update
I’m sure the majority of members are keeping a close eye on daily news updates regarding the ongoing CoVID restrictions across the country.
The most recent updates are positive in terms of the Club re-opening soon following the current period of lockdown.
Therefore the proposed date of re-opening currently remains as Monday 7th December.
However, the extent to which we re-open will be determined by the ‘tier system’ and a few other factors, so the CoVID Sub-Committee will be meeting soon and will subsequently provide an update to all members – watch this space!
In Memoriam
We are sad to announce the death of long-time Club member and ‘stalwart’ Patricia Cooper.
We have added a page to the Club website for such announcements, which includes further details on Patricia’s time at the Club - www.essexcountybowlsclub.com/membership/memoriam
Our thoughts are with Ray and the rest of her family and friends at this sad time.
Save our Sports Petition
Our National Governing Body are support this campaign:
“We are supporting the Sports Recovery Fund petition which calls on the government to instigate emergency support to ensure sports clubs, fitness and leisure facilities – the lifeblood of communities across the nation – can remain open and survive the difficult months.”
Please visit the EIBA website for further details or to sign the petition - www.eiba.co.uk/news/2020/save-our-sport.php
Outdoor County Competitions 2021
The Essex County Bowling Association have reported much lower numbers than usual entering their competitions:
“Since the launch on 19 October over 250 members have registered to use the portal, which is just under half of the number who entered the 2020 County Competitions. That figure is expected to grow as there are still some regular participants yet to sign up.
Please take a moment to register and enter the competitions, if you have not already done so.
If you have entered, please remind your club colleagues that registration and entry is now their responsibility.
The closing date for entries to the competitions (for this year only) will be 31st December.
John Tully, ECBA Competition Secretary”
Please strongly consider entering these competitions, the sport of bowls needs your support more than ever this year.
See the ECBA website for further details, or if you are unsure on the process please just ask Ed in the Club Office - www.essexcomps.co.uk or www.ecba.co.uk

A reminder to all members, the minutes from all Club meetings are regularly uploaded to the Members’ Area of the Club Website (you will need to log in to view them).
