Club News - April
Firstly, we hope everyone is doing well, or at least as well as you can considering the circumstances.
We know you will no doubt be looking forward to resuming bowling at the earliest possible date, of course we have no real idea of when that will be at this stage. Rest assured that as soon as things become clearer we will immediately set the wheels in motion to reopen and resume play at the soonest convenience. We will attempt to provide as many things to bowl in as possible, ie Competitions/Leagues etc, as we always do, but again nothing can be known about this currently.
Reminder of Help Available
If you were not already aware, we are very lucky to have a small team of members who are very willing to help anyone during this lockdown period, whether with shopping or simply a chat. If you fell this would be beneficial to please just e-mail back with your requirements – they are here to help, so use them!
As you probably already know, the EIBA have postponed their finals indefinitely, they have also cancelled all Summer Indoor National competitions for 2020 and all Coach Bowls courses. At this current stage they are treating the 2020/21 season as normal(ish!) and accepting entry forms now – they have greatly extended the period for entries to be received until the end of June. Just ask for a form if you need one.
Bowls England are providing some interesting items on their website (https://www.bowlsengland.com/) including a new Podcast – The Extra End and a new YouTube channel. Please support their endeavours to bring some interest to bowlers around the Country.
My own efforts, following on from above, in providing some entertainment (of sorts!) to you all have been completed in the form of our Club History. The document has been updated on our website – extended from 5 pages to 12, so please take a look, I think it is well worth a read – https://www.essexcountybowlsclub.com/files/fullclubhistory1901_2020.pdf
As before, if you have any questions at all about the Club, or anything for that matter, please e-mail us (our phones are not being monitored currently) on firstname.lastname@example.org
Stay safe everyone, Edward
