We are sad to report the recent passing of Full Member Brian, Outdoor Member Peter, Indoor Members Audrey and Mick and Social Members Ken and Clive, click for full details.
Brian had been a full member of the Club for many years. As well as simply being a great Club man, he was also a very successful competitive player, including amassing a great CV of Club titles - cluminating in winning the Late Summer Pairs just last year whilst battling his long-term illness, a great achievement indeed.
Due to the ongoing Coronavirus lockdown in place, Brian's funeral will be held in compliance with government regulations, however a celebration of his life is already being planned for later in the year.
We are sad to report the death of long-time Outdoor Member Peter.
Peter was a member here for many years. He also regularly hosted Masonic bowls matches at the Club.
Peter's funeral was held on 24th April.
Audrey was an Indoor member here for many years up until the start of this season where she was sadly unable to bowl.
Audrey's funeral will take place on Wednesday 20th May. Sadly immediate family only can attend due to the current situation.
It is with much sadness that we report the death of longtime indoor member Mick Ager, who recently passed away following a long battle with cancer. Mick was also an outdoor member of Rochford Bowling Club and Shoebury Park prior to that. The funeral took place on May 19th.
Ken was a long-time Social member of the Club. Many of our members will know him for attending every day, having his IPA and watching the morning news. He always had a cheery nature and was very approachable for a chat at any time.
In compliance with government guidelines concerning gatherings during the COVID-19 pandemic, Ken's funeral will be attended by immediate family only. In order that all members of the Club can participate in the proceedings, the service will be webcast. Details as follows:
Date: Monday 20th April 2020
Webcast viewing: 10.55am-11.30am
Funeral Service: 11.00am
The webcast will subsequently be uploaded on Friday 24th April where it will be available to view until Wednesday 3rd June using the same login information.
Clive had been a Social member here for many years and was a regular visitor to the Club during that time. He was a keen supporter of the game of bowls in general too and often watched the high level competitions hosted here.
Clive's funeral will be held on Thursday 21st May at 9:30am, sadly due to lockdown restrictions this will be strictly family only.
